I had always dreamt of marrying my soulmate on a beach in Fiji in twilight, surrounded by my family and friends. I’m proud to say my dreams came true when I married Sally in 2008.
I can still hear the beautiful harmonies sung by the native Fijian choir in the background and my two daughters Mikaela and Paris giggling over my baby son Charles.
I can also smell Bounty Rum in my nostrils that I had used to quieten the butterflies as three Fijian warriors escorted my bride to me , one warrior blew the conche shell to herald her arrival and the other two yelled out ARE YOU READY ?
I could only yell back that I was, and so we got married under a beautiful tropical wreath. With a Rainbow set above the horizon and all our family and friends around us.
There were tears of joy and laughter as we made our way to the banquet, Fijian style with all the trimmings. The Meke soon began and after the kava drinking ceremony was complete, the Fijian Spear Dancers took to the stage. My wife and I had our first dance and we cut our beautiful 3 decker white Frosted Chocolate Wedding Cake for everyone there.
After that it was all in feasting on Island food and drinking more bounty rum .We spent 10 days in the Fijian sun! This was the time of my life.
